In the years following WWII, George would start a family (having met and married his Scottish bride Mary, my mother, while stationed in Britain,) and re-establish his Los Angeles practice. He would develop his modernist style to a high art, as the photos below of the John J. Pike residence, illustrate. This house won an AIA National Merit Award, one of many that would follow.
After Jack Pike, a close friend of my father's, sold the house, it was subsequently owned by actor Donald O'Connor, and later, actor Mickey Rooney, both of whom made a series of very insensitive and unfortunate alterations, all but destroying its original character. In the late 1970's it was purchase by Mr. Daniel Zinn, who lovingly restored it to its former pristine state, with my father's enthusiastic assistance.
